The Cockatrice is a combination of rooster, bat, and lizard. I thought I’d make the comb and wattles of the rooster resemble the frilled lizard’s neck display. If its claws or beak touch you, the cockatrice can turn you to stone, like a combination of Medusa and King Midas.
