Jokes of Sick
I used to get “ice cream headaches” from slushies. Every Saturday morning, while my mom would go grocery shopping, I’d be left in the food court drawing, eating a donut or gingerbread man and having a coke slushy. I didn’t realize the concept of a brain freeze until many years later. I don’t really like either term since to me it’s more of a spine-chilling experience than headache. It gets me between the scapulae. Anyone have a better name for it? Ice spine? Spine sting? Backbone bite? Sacrochilliac?

I think you’re the only one.. everyone else experiences it when the roof of their mouth chills their head. If you’re feeling it in your spine, it was from cooling your esophagus.. which is interesting.. I’ve never heard of anyone getting chilled down in the hot zone of the torso.. I like finding out about variations of familiar things 😀

Wow, yeah, I’ve got to agree with ColdFusion on this; my brain freeze always hurt my forehead. You’re pretty special Admin. =D

You’re not alone!
I’ve called it throat freeze or chest freeze as more often than it seems to hit my spine then grab my entire rib cage. I blame the fact that my body temperature is lower than most people.
