The other course I’m taking is English literature. I did one last year as well and I’ve learned a lot. Aside from literary techniques and how to read a text critically, I’ve also learned that TS Eliot can basically be blamed for making art challenging instead of accessible. This year’s course moves from Eliot up to present day including Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Jimmy Corrigan. It’s all about how literature speaks to the time its made and that we can get as much from present day bards as Ancient Greek ones. I hope my comics are at least as full of value as yesterday’s Dennis The Menace.
