Elefun Pets

Whenever I hear the song Woolly Bully I think of Woolly Mammoths. I wonder who’d win in a fight between Woolly Bully and the One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People Eater?

So the mastython just ate a dragon … but why does it have fangs? Or maybe those are snake-tusks? Also your princesses don’t look very happy for people who recently acquired exciting pets.

Hey Ribusprissin! Um, the fangs in the mastython’s trunk are the python’s fangs and the white things from the elephant-like head are elephant tusks. And if they look not quite as excited to have new pets it might be because there’s an old Indian proverb that’s something along the lines of: if you really want to get back at your enemies, give them the gift of an elephant. Apparently they are NOT fun to take care of, even if they make imposing mounts.

IS the song “Wooly Bully”? I’ve only heard it a couple of times, but I assumed it was “Woolly Pully,” standard British slang for a woolen pullover sweater–especially the military version.

As for the Flying Purple People Eater, you’ve never truly heard that song until you hear the Austin Lounge Lizard’s banjo-heavy bluegrass version. (“Then he said to me, in a voice so gruff, / ‘I wouldn’t eat you, ’cause you’d taste like snuff!'”)

But at least it’s still a similar tempo; their fast bluegrass “Brain Damaged” {aka Dark Side of the Moon} by “them ol’ Floyd brothers” is great for giving Pink Floyd fans whiplash; they don’t even recognize it until the chorus….

The Woolly Bully would totally win. Think about it. It’s not a purple person, so the purple people eater can’t eat it. End of story.

Unless it’s Sunday, then the purple people eater can eat whatever it wants.

Nonie, it is Wooly Bully. I looked it up before I posted that because I wasn’t sure what the vocalist was saying either. It might have been Louie Louie for all I knew!

Eshu, I thought the same thing until I saw pictures of the monster. Not only does it eat purple people, it is also purple itself. 🙂

KNO3, Then I hope it’s like a camel. Although right now there are a lot of purple people in Toronto. One of our University Frosh Week spirit things is to have the students dye themselves purple. Silly Engineers. If the Purple People Eater went on Jenny Craig it could eat whatever it wanted, just in small portions. It could eat gnomes and Smurfs and Snorks.

Is it supposed to be ‘mastodon’ in the second panel, or is there a pun I haven’t noticed?
