The Plan!
This comic came about when I was trying to explain to my Dungeons and Dragons friends about how good Dungeon is. It’s a French comic book series that I’ve been reading the English translation of. The art is fun, cartoony and colourful. The stories are great too. Meanwhile my friends are a fairly inept group of adventurers. They’re more interested in role playing dumb barbarians, by-the-book guardsmen, chaotic gnomes and naive farmers-turned-adventurers than focusing on what they’re doing and why. I couldn’t think of an exact plot or scene from Dungeon so I just said “You guys would relate. There’s a real quest to be done but the heroes just try to find a way out of doing hard work or stumble into the answer. Like instead of rescuing a lost princess they would put all their efforts into making a fake princess out of found objects and say ‘We found her!’ and try to collect the reward.” And voila!

There’s something odd in the first panel dialogue… but what a punchline 😛

Somehow, “dumber than a sack of hammers” popped into my head when I saw this.

I think “uglier than a sack of hammers” is the next big thing in comparative insults.
